The Bike Messenger

The Bike Messenger:  Written 11/15/2020

Hello Family and Friends,

In New York there are these amazing individuals who deliver stuff on bicycle to whoever needs important items in short order.  They are called bike messengers.  I love riding bicycles and living in the country forces me to ride in traffic any time I hop in the saddle for work.  Riding in traffic is not for everyone but after a while, it becomes normal and as long as I keep my focus - I feel pretty safe.  The bike messengers take this to a whole new level in New York (or any big city in the US) as they weave in and out of traffic dashing from address to address quickly delivering messages to people who need them.  They seemingly move and dive in and out of traffic as if they have a predetermined path through the jungle of vehicles and pedestrians.  It’s almost like they have a cheat code to a complicated video game and make it look easy.  These bike messengers are constantly having to adjust their path because of unforeseen obstacles and trust in their extensive experience to help them complete their deliveries.  One rider I researched said that the only thing he knew for sure was that his path would be interrupted and he would have to make adjustments to get him to his destination on time. He had a trust that all his experience and understanding of the flow of traffic would keep him on time and complete his delivery.   I urge you to research bike messengers on YouTube - pretty cool stuff.

I feel pretty confident in saying that we have all at some point in time wanted things to be a certain way or for a decision to be in my favor only for the exact opposite to happen leaving us disappointed and even upset.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, God really wanted this passage to sink in with us as it's not often you find 2 word verses:  16Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  Much like the bike messenger our lives are flowing in a certain way and you will encounter obstacles that might take you off YOUR path and make you adjust.  Sure, maybe that situation didn't turn out like you wanted but you must know that God has His own path for you and if you keep your eyes focused on Him you just might see the path that He set up just for you.  Keep your eyes on Jesus and trust in His flow of traffic, you just may avoid that next gnarly pothole.

Take care everyone!!!

Love ya.

J
