Happy Halloween

Good morning family, I hope you all are doing well and are looking forward to another week and whatever that might bring you. We had such a fun day yesterday going around town during the Trunk or Treat that Astoria School District put on and visiting with some family members afterward. The pumpkin - I got to thinking and researching how I could bring up the pumpkin as it relates to our belief in Jesus and I think the Holy Spirit may have led me to a pretty idea for a devotional.
First, the verses: Isaiah 64:8 Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Then Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Ok, so follow me here on this. You go out and get this pumpkin right? You bring it home and decide that you're gonna carve it up and start the process of cutting the lid off and removing all the squishy stuff. (for this point, the squishy stuff is gross) After you empty the squishy, you carve out a design that you like onto your beautiful round blob and in your eyes it's perfect!!! Then; in most cases, you put a light in it and show it off on your front porch for all to see. In many ways, that is what God is doing with us. Like in Isaiah we are the clay and God is the potter and he begins a work in us, molding us into what His plan is. In Romans, God has given us the gift of light and once we have put our faith in Jesus we no longer occupy the darkness but are in fact the light into the world. So, be the pumpkin!! Be molded into something beautiful in the eyes of God. Accept what Jesus is: the savior of the world, your savior. Be the Light unto the world.
Anyhow, happy Halloween. I hope you all had a great day and are enjoying your Sunday and start to November!!!!!?!?!? Already? Sheesh.
Love ya’ll.
J.
