Chat with J: 12/27/2020

A new year is on the horizon, THANK GOD because I’m not sure I could take much more of 2020 at this point.  It’s time to move on and see what 2021 holds for us.

It may be easy to look at 2020 as a train-wreck of a year but the reality is that we all still have to look forward to a new year filled with blessings, challenges, vaccines, happy days, sad days and everything in between.  Now, I will not claim that I know the answer to a lot of stuff, in-fact if you ask me to figure out if the new movie Wonder Women 1984 was any good I would be hard pressed to find much to proclaim about.  The point is, I have been thinking lately of what I could do to simplify dealing with or preparing for the new year rapidly approaching and I think I may have found something.

I could look at some tried methods like Picking up a new hobby, eat healthier, move around more, be more grateful, stop procrastinating, or just simply to stop and enjoy the little things more.  All of these ideas are nice, healthy ideas but I have an idea that is pretty simple to do but would really kick off not only your new year but perhaps the rest of your life…...Get ready, time to take some notes here.

I want you to experience a great 2021 and the way I think you should do this is to seek Jesus first.  If you read the Bible in Matthew 6:33 it reads: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Simply put, if you seek Him (Jesus) first, He will meet all of your needs.  I know it's a little hard to fathom how He could meet all your needs; after all, we are very complicated people and the list of needs usually seems never-ending.  Anyhow, here are some ways that I think would be pretty simple and not too time-consuming for you to work on in the coming year.

1.  Spend a little part of your day in conversation with Him.  Every day.  Don't forget, He will work with you to help turn around your mistakes and will never stop being there for you.

2.  This may be a little difficult but really, if you can find the way to put His will and not yours first, things could start to look a little better for you.  Don't worry, He will help you put your agenda where it needs to be.  Read Luke 22:42 for further instructions.

3.  Don't forget to be a blessing to others by putting in the time, talent and even resources to those around you on behalf of Jesus.  He will use you to bless others.

4.  Take a look at Colossians 2:3 and you will see that in Jesus, hidden are all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.  The true treasures of life—love, joy, peace, fulfillment, true success—are only found in Jesus ... so you spend your time seeking Him.

I believe that no matter how badly we may have messed up in life, God still loves you and has an amazing plan just for you if we can just seek Him.  I got a little preachy in this chat to you but its because I care for you and because I care for you all I should want for you the only person that will be there for you, loves you more than anything and is the way to Heaven.  Trust in Jesus, please!!

Take care ya’ll and have a great new year.

J.
